Investigations - Maclaren Stroller Recall
The stroller manufacturer Maclaren has recalled 1million strollers and the media attention about this national recall has been expansive:
ABC World News (Nov. 9, 2009) - "Maclaren and the Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling approximately 1 million strollers after the company received a dozen reports of children's fingertips getting amputated by a hinge on the strollers."
CBS News (Nov. 9, 2009) - "About a million Maclaren strollers sold by Target and Babies "R" Us were recalled Monday, after 12 reports of children having their fingers amputated by a hinge mechanism."
Chicago Tribune (Nov. 10, 2009) - "The recall includes the following stroller models: Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller. They have been sold at Babies "R" Us, Target and other stores around the country since 1999."
New York Times (Nov. 10, 2009) - "had received 15 reports of children placing their fingers in the hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports of fingertip amputation."
